Butterflies

  I started with an accurate drawing of the dancer in pastels, but the result produced interesting lines but nothing within the lines to make for an interesting painting. I then cut the dancer out creating a negative image then placed that over another painting and created a new positive cutting that out. The design of the skin suggested the texture of a butterfly wing so I drew several butterflies that followed the lines of the dancer then as background made an enlarged version of the underside of one of the butterflies on the left and and the same for the right of the painting with another butterfly featured in the painting. I think it works
